CERIT Research

CERIT entomologists regard insecticides as valuable resources rather than merely disposable products. CERIT projects and research aim to provide a basis on which these resources maintain their value by being used safely, intelligently and with maximum effectiveness within a framework of Integrated Pest Management.

Specific research areas include
:

  • New strategies for insect control;
  • Efficacy of new insect control compounds and formulations;
  • Spectrum expansion of new and existing active compounds;
  • Testing methodology for insecticides and other means of insect control;
  • Modes of action and resistance mechanisms of insecticides;
  • Insecticide delivery systems - aerosols, vaporisers, surface treatments, fumigants, baits, etc;
  • Insect repellents and expellents;
  • Pest Management Audit methods;
  • Methodology for screening potential insect control chemicals;
  • Insect oviposition suppressants; and
  • Insect culturing methodology.
